The resolution also depends on the cameras' resolution.

If you connect a 1080P camera, you would get 1080P resolution. Local viewing & Remote viewing. No Network needed, just connect the system to a monitor via HDMI / VGA port and enjoy multiple-cam views on one screen. Connect the internet to the DVR.
